Greg Pidcock - London, England

Greg, Greg, Greg…where do we even start…

In short, Greg is truly a 21st century man. Although he was born in Canada, Greg’s spent his life living in a variety of different locations; namely Peru, India, Ecuador, Thailand, Argentina, and currently England. He’s now the DJ and Music Director at sketch; one of London’s best/poshest dining and nightlife spots. Not to mention, it’s also the ‘Most Instagrammed’ location in the entire city. We caught up with him in a sex club (it’s a long story) in Soho to ask him – who are you? Here’s what he had to say…

The place I come from? I actually have no idea…My Mom’s from LA and my Dad’s from Leicester, so I grew up moving around a lot. I spent time in Canada, Peru, India, Ecuador, Thailand, Argentina, and the US.

Apart from what I do at sketch, I also organize parties/events and make art. The very best part about doing all of that is how rewarding it all is – namely, when I’m in the zone, feeling great, and making other people happy. Making music and art can be tough at times, but when other people enjoy what you make and get something out of it, then it ends up all being worth it.

I try not to spend too much time thinking about what other people think of me. However, I’d hope other people see me as having a strong will and a good vibe. And maybe even a bit silly. Oh yeah and definitely sarcastic….very, very sarcastic.

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Whether it’s a relationship or a landscape, I draw inspiration from pretty much any place or setting I find myself in.

Who’s had the biggest impact on me? Definitely my parents. Those two are just so cool and have always done whatever they could to ensure that I have the best experience here on earth. Growing up, they showed my brother and I the world. They continue to inspire me everyday.

A turning point in my life was when I started working at a club in Montreal called Cherry. I did everything imaginable – busboy, graphic designer and art director. It was there that I was introduced to DJing and the crazy but wonderful world of nightlife and parties. Plus, from there I met a bunch of people from the UK and around the world who remain some of my closest friends and colleagues to this day. Without them, I’d never be where I am now.

There are a lot of places that are special to me: Morjim Beach in Goa, the Old Port in Montreal, Montañita Beach in Ecuador, my studio in London, Black Rock City, and Ibiza…of course!

One of the wisest things I’ve ever heard is this: If someone criticizes or compliments you, your reaction to it or the way it makes you feel is totally dependent upon how you view yourself – rather than on the actual criticism or compliment itself.

My biggest strength is my social skills. I love meeting new people and bringing them together. That’s part of the reason why I do what I do – because it’s all about bringing people together.

If I were to die tomorrow, then my last meal would definitely be a fat breakfast plate with a ton of scrambled eggs.

My most prized possession? I would have to say my laptop. I can do everything with it, including making music, connecting with friends, and booking flights!

Personal style is about connecting with yourself. It’s about wearing clothes that make you feel good and make sense in view of the particular life you lead. In my case, it just so happens that tigha fits that criteria…

Fit is everything.

I’d like to be remembered as someone who brought people together in a positive way, and for spreading good vibes as best as I could.
